While preparing my deer dead for a European mount this evening I discovered it had Nasal Bot Fly larvae, a first for me. Is this common with deer here?

Pretty common.
I did taxidermy work for many years and would have several heads every year with them.

I see no rhyme or reason to them. Some deer have it some dont, some years more deer have it and some years less. This year deer seem to have more ticks but not as many bots, I would guess with the warm weather I would notice more of the bots but not really.

They are really interesting though, especially ones loaded with them. Its got to be annoying for the deer.
