I'd been wearing Cabela's MT050 rainwear for years on non-backcountry hunts. It has preformed almost flawlessly. The biggest test was just last week in Ohio when it poured for 2 days straight. My only complaint and it may even be my fault, was that the ends of my shirt sleeves got wet. I may have been because my undershirt had longer sleeves than my coat and I just didn't notice them sticking out. Or, the fleece on the exterior of the jacket sleeves wrap around the elastic on the ends of the arm and wicked moisture onto my undershirt. If it happens again and I'm sure its the jacket, I too will be looking for new raingear.

That's exactly what I want, but good-gosh it is expensive. Their non-insulated rain-suit costs almost as much as their insulated stuff, which is through the roof.

I've owned their insulated parka and bibs for years, and they are the greatest hunting clothing I've ever owned, bar none. But glad I got them 10 years ago before the set went up to $800. :o

It's in the bargain cave now. Should be around $300 for a set. That's a pretty good deal for a Goretex rainsuit. A comparable non-Gortex would be the Marmot PreCip line. It's not camo (doesn't matter to me) but isn't as quiet as the MT050 (does matter). I used to take the Precip rain gear on backcountry hunts until I discovered sil-nylon ponchos.

Just an opinion from a former Lone Wolf owner of both the hand climber model and two original and one Assault hang-on models...the only real advantage of cast aluminum stands is that they're easier to set up quietly, like if trying to set up and hunt very close to a buck's bedding area. So yeah, I'd like an XOP Air Raid, but maybe they'll have something a little better in the future when I can afford a cast stand...a little lighter with the platform space out front where it's needed. There are others that fit the bill though, often giving more comfort and space for less $$ like Summit, Hawk, Muddy, Millenium. My new Hawk Helium stands are welded at all contact points and dead quiet, a full two feet wide in the front and a memory foam seat, and only run for $140. Got mine for sale at Academy for only $105. Also, in my experience at least, the Lone Wolf sticks are a pain to set up and not nearly as safe as sticks with double steps, like Hawk Helium or Muddy's. As for climbers, my Summit is much more solid on the tree than my Lone Wolf was, and it hasn't squeaked one time since I took a dremel tool to it and knocked off all the paint off of the tree teeth. Only stand I ever sat in from daylight to dark was my Summit Viper with footrest. For bowhunting, the perfect climber to me is my OpenShot hand climber seat on my Viper platform, but minus the footrest so it packs more compactly and I turn it upside down. Very Quiet and comfortable. I get the Lone Wolf appeal. You might want to just check out other and cheaper options.

I've already ordered some new Pentax 8x42 roof prisms and Smart wool long handles from Sierra Trading Post, two each of the Hawk Helium hang-on stands and climbing sticks on sale at Academy, early season/scouting/turkey hunting boots, a day pack, windproof fleece jacket.... and The Missus says NO MORE RIGHT NOW. lol..

However, I want to order one of those Alps outdoorZ turkey chairs, or what you might call a beach lounger for hunters. In addition to helping me sit tight this spring waiting for gobblers, I think it'll be perfect for deer hunting in cedar thickets during gun season.

I plan to get rid of a lot of things and only add a few. My first priority is one of the Leica ER scopes that EuroOptic has on closeout. Second is a Caldwell Stable Table to practice with the Leica Scope. I may pick up a trail cam or hang on treestand if I find a killer deal.
