I'm really wanting to put my wife on her first deer this weekend. She has already said she doesn't want to shoot a small buck. We set up this morning and had a nice 8pt come in about 40 yards. He was probably 115". It was so perfect. Then the darn thing went behind a bit of brush. I was sitting about 3ft to her left and he was perfectly broadside to me and I could see him clearly. She had a small tree in front of her and couldn't see him. I'm yanking on her coat telling her to lean left and her heart was racing. I'm whispering "SHOOT! SHOOT!" ... I was probably too excited!

She just couldn't find him in the scope. When she finally could see him he was behind some of that brush and she just didn't feel like she had a shot. He wandered off. I was really let down (not upset, I just really wanted it to work out for her). It would have been a great buck for her. I was proud that she didn't take the shot if she wasn't comfortable with it, but from where I was sitting all I could think was "Shoot! SHOOT IT!". :D

We will try again his evening.
