The boys been saving up for a .308 for awhile and he was finally able to go for it so we started shopping. I really belive even though I'm a 100% Tikka nut that a person should try every gun out there and pick what feels the best to them, my wife helped me out there when I tried to shove a left handed Tikka at her and she told me in just the right words to leave her and her A-Bolt alone. What, I was just trying to get her a lefty.

Anyway after trying them all, Remy's ,Tikka's,Savage's,Browning's,Mauser's, Weatherby Vanguard's and alot of others he kept going back to a Howa/Houge and the Remington SPS. He finally went for the Howa . He says it just feels right Dad. So he's waiting for it to come in,we got it and Lupy base's and rings coming in for it this week, and Pops springing for a Pentax scope in 4x12 for an early CHRISTmas present.(least I can do right).

How do you guys like the Tikka. I've got a buddy that's shopping for a new rifle but doesn't want to spend close to a grand or more.

How about comparing the Tikks and Howa?

Hey CZ
I'm kind of one way when it comes to Tikka's,I have and I love em. I have both Whitetail Hunters and T-3's. We havn't shot my sons Howa yet so I can't tell ya much yet but if they shoot anything like the Weatherby Vanguards (which Howa makes) we should be OK.It's hard to compare the two,the machine work on both is good, the Tikka is a much smoother gun though. This Howa's got a fair trigger which will need work to get it where I like it,the Tikkas are good right out of the box. The syn, stock on my Tikkas is a much more rigid and comfortable (to me) than the Houge but the feel is much different thats what sold my son on his it fits him.The Howa has a dropping floorplate the Tikka's have a clip,Tikka's come with scope rings the Howa don't,the bluing on the Tikka is much deeper. It's hard to compare the Tikka's price is also almost $200 more,so you'd expect more for your money.

Hope this helps.
