Opening day of muzzleloader I seen 5 does traveling together eating acorns. Then shortly after that had 2 buck come in together milling around picking through the leaves eating acorns. 1 of the 2 was the 10pt that I shot but didn't recover. No rut on those deer minds. Acted like they was still in bachelor group. Then yesterday the 10 pt I did kill came in with his nose to the ground racking through the leaves eating acorns to. All the time I had 2 does behind me also eating acorns. It's super weird, I think this heat has these deer all messed up. We still have trees holding onto acorns, and still dropping.

It takes exactly one, single, solitary doe to come into heat and the woods can go berserk. In those short 48 hours, it's possible that a single doe in your neighborhood changed the entire breeding landscape. All it takes is one.
 
This morning I had a BIG 10 point chase 2 does hard in front of my stand.I couldn't get a shot because he never stopped chasing.This is the first buck I have seen that was in full rut mode.I think the rut is just starting to kick in.

Williamson.I killed an 8 point Saturday that was trailing 2 does but not chasing.The one I saw today was really fired up and going hard.I think the rut is just starting for my area.
 
I'm seeing big bucks start to go after the first does in heat 4 days ago. It will happen like clock work in a couple days or so. Better be in the woods!

You middle Tn guys should be getting fired up. Your rut always kicks in earlier than our SW Tn rut does. Our woods will literally blow up with scrapes just prior to ours starting and that hasn't happened yet. Get in the woods.
 
Its just now getting time for things to start happening here as well, usually around the 10th before I see much action. I'm hoping things are getting started before the wknd.
 
I have this Friday off for Vets day, you guys think it would be a good idea to take Monday(14th) and Tues(15th) off too, to be in the woods? I only have the ability to hunt public land(Percy Priest mostly), any advice is greatly appreciated!

If you have limited days off and want to kill a good buck, I would definitely be watching the Weather and using my days some time in the next 2-3 weeks depending on area your in.
 
Right on schedule this year. Young bucks (1.5 and 2.5y/o's) actively chasing does that aren't receptive yet. 3.5y/o's starting to cruise, scent checking fields, rubbing/scraping even in daylight hours. Mature bucks still nocturnal. The very first does should start coming into heat this weekend on my farms, then will be full bore by Nov 18th.
 
We seen 58 does 1 10 pt 2.5 yr old and a spike in 2 days does are all in groups still on the loudon Monroe line had 3 different groups of 10-12 this past weekend only know they where different because they where In front of 3 different people at the same time
