In the perfect world I would have had him use the Marlin 30-30 I grew up with, which is also the same rifle his dad killed his first deer with.

As good a post as we will see on TnDeer, and I am not the least bit surprised it came from you. Kudos to you for being selfless and providing your nephew a stepping stone to experience mentorship, raw emotion, hardship, success, and grow as an individual, in just a few hours. He is at some of the most impressionable years of his life and you hit it out of the park providing him an opportunity and guiding him to success that will likely shape him going forward and pay him dividends for years to come. As you stated, it will shape and reflect who you are just as much. As I have said for 25+ years, my absolute favorite pics on this forum (or anywhere else) are kids/youth in the outdoors. Kudos to you both! Thanks for sharing.
