my boy is 8 and this is his second year hunting. Last year he killed a good 8 pt on the second day of juvy. This year even though it was hot we got it done on the opener. We saw a decent 8pt just after daylight but he couldn't get on it. Then we saw a spike about 7:30 and 3 does at 8:00. We were gonna leave at 9:00. I started getting things gathered up when I looked down the hill and saw a bush moving. I knew it was a buck rubbing a tree but couldn't make out horn due to the thick brush. It started to walk away so I pulled out the grunt call which I just put up. Soon as I blew on it he stopped, I blew again and he turned our way. I slid it to the doe grunt position and he made a mad dash right up to where we could get a good shot. The lungs were behind a bush so I told him to shoot it in the neck and he dropped him in his tracks. The look on my boy's face was priceless and I could tell how much this moment meant to him which makes me the proudest dad on earth.
