conditions were perfect about 130-200 today,,got a zero at 1,000 with the 105VLDH load in the 243 bbl and let 20 go pretty fast just to see if the load would go crazy when the gun got hot,,missed shot 13 and 20 but the other 18 rounds went on the 10 inch gong at 1,000 yards,,I never did that with the 338 or anything,,

shooting 105 Bergers and 41.5 H4350 at 3200 fps ,,,the 35X Leupold Comp scope is crazy good also,,

most of the hits on gong you can see are 300WSM and 338LM,,the 243 just leaves a grey dust on the steel,,nearly all 18 shots are under my hand,,

That indeed is great shooting. That means 18 rounds in a one MOA at 1000 yards.

Pretty good string, indeed!!!

What twist are you running? I have a Salvage SA and running a Varmint Contour EABCO barrel in stock twist (1:9.25), 22" no brake, I am pushing 105gr AMAX at +/- 3000fps (never speedo'd these, but reverse data on velocity calculator tell me so) and getting consistent hits at 600yrds but falls apart at 750yrds+....vapor trail goes stooped (looks like a corkscrew). I was thinking on spinning on a bull BBL in 1:8 but still only want to go 22". Just curious what twist you are running. BTW this gun will print .5 MOA from 100yrds to 300yrds and 1 MOA out to 600yrds if I do my part all day and twice on Sunday if I am in a good mood :).

it is a Krieger 8 twist HV,,with the 9.125 factory twists try the 95 SMK or the 95 VLD and you will be much better off than any 105 in a 9 or slower twist,,I had 2-3 factory 6mm Rem and with the 9.125 twists it would not shoot the 105s worth 2 hoots,,I shot the 87VMax and 70 NBT in them

edit to say this bbl was my first 6mmBRDX bbl and was 29 inch blank that finished at 28,,set back to 243 Win at 27.25,,

I am intrigued by your overall abilities. Your shooting just seams crazy to me. I will never have the patients it takes to get to your level ......nor the money.

nice shooting and i am sure you know why so many long range shooters are shooting much bigger rounds with much heavier bullets. most claim the smaller lighter rounds just can not hang with them at long range. this is both true and false. the lighter bullets can be tossed around easier in the wind but on nice calm days they shoot just as well. even shorter lighter barrels can shoot great also they start to open up the groups faster with heat.i use a light barrel on a cooper in 221 fireball for alot of long range prairie dogs and ground squirrels . i even have a muzzle break on it so i can watch my bullet enter the p/d at 600 yrds :tu:
