2 years ago I killed my first deer ever on rifle opener. Last year I killed another deer on rifle opener in the same area. This year, I couldn't hunt the same spot because it's too long a hike for me to have gotten back home to be at work by 11 am. So I went to another spot closer to the truck. I ended up stillhunting half the time and found some good sign but didn't see any deer. I was driving away by 9.30, hate to cut it short but I gotta work. At least I got to continue my tradition and hunt the same WMA for rifle opener. Hope y'all have had a great morning. Back to work

I kept up my tradition this morning as well. 18 years in a row I have missed the opener of rifle season due to work. Haven't been in the woods opening morning of gun season since I was a teen.

I got up, gave it serious thought and went back to sleep. Actually, I came up to the office and me and doggie hit the couch for some prime drowse time.

I may hunt hard tomorrow. Plant to hunt two stands, one from dawn to about 9:30 and the other till about noon. Then a different piece of property tomorrow afternoon. Neither of my properties was hutned today so I may have some influx from surrounding land.

good luck. I have those days where the alarm goes off, I get up and think about it, and then go back to bed. Not on the opener but happens when I hunt too many days in a row.

Didn't miss much cat heard about 20 shots til i left at 11 didn't see a thing myself and all the shots i heard sounded far off. Disappointing to say the least
