My 25-06 project

Picked up a new rifle several weeks back. Found a great deal on a Weatherby Vanguard in 25-06 and decided to go down the rabbit hole of reloading for it. Kicked off the search for a solid hunting load with a 110 gr Nosler accubond, Hodgdon H4350, Remington brass and Winchester LR primers. I did my original series of testing a couple of weeks ago and zeroed in on a sweet spot. Went back this morning with a another more narrow series to confirm what I'd seen the other week. To say I'm pleased is an understatement. Velocity average turned out better than I expected with a nine shot average of 3184 fps from a 24" barrel. Going to do some more shooting to confirm but it looks like I found the sweet spot for this rifle and load.

I appreciate the information you shared with your loading the 110 gr Sierra GameKing. It was a big help in determining a starting point with H4350 and that 110 gr Accubond.

Where'd you get the vanguard? What did you pay? Have one in .308 and love it. Keeping my eyes peeled for one in a 6mm caliber

Try some RL22 in it if you have some too. My 25-06's both like a slower burning powder.

I picked up some Retumbo the other week. That's going to be my next round of testing. The data from Nosler with the 110 gr Accubond looks promising, so we'll see. I've had others recommended RL22. That's on my list to try at some point.

H1000 and Retumbo will give slightly higher velocities than H4350 as will H4831 but H4350 groups a little better with the 110 Sierra in my rifle. It's worth a try though as you might get as good groups and the extra speed with it.

I tried and loved Retumbo matched with 117 gr bullets. It was way better than I expected.

IMR 4831 and a 117gr Sierra SBT puts holes in holes. Just sayin. .78 groups leaves a LOT on the table for that caliber. Im not knocking it, but it can do way way way better than that.
