I use Hornady XTP 240 gr, in my CVA Optima 50 cal with 100 gr pellets. I shot one deer thru the heart and one thru lungs. Neither left a blood trail. Found them both in less than 70 yards but thinking about switching. What do you all use?

I shoot the same combo out of my encore and blood trails have never been a problem.

I shoot a CVA Buckhorn with Powerbelt 295 grain hollow points. I really like them, but I am the only one on this site that does.

You're not alone. Two of us like Powerbelt hollow points. They have worked great for me.

Nope, my bullet of choice as well.
Nothing but good results for me.

In my 50 Cal encore I switched from 250 grain shockwave polymer tip, pushed by 100 grains of loose powder. Getting no pass through with it.

I went to a 300 grain bonded shockwave pushed by 110 grains of loose powder, best move i ever made this season. I have droped 2 bucks in thier tracks this season with great pass through. No meat wasted neck shots.(i dont do neck roast).

where do you find the 300 gr bullets? I shoot the 250s and have had good results with 2 777 50 gr pellets, but was wondering if I could get a heavier bullet.

My brother uses the bonded 250 grain shock wave and loves them. This is a new bullet. I may drop back next year to the 250 bonded.

I have an inexpensive Tradition Buckstalker and it shoots 300gr. Hornady XTPs very accurately. I use pellets. Never misfired. They have completely passed thru every time from 20 yards to 110 yards and the deer didn't run over 30 yards. All shots were double lung though.
