Acetone is a solvent and many times used as a degreaser. I've heard of it being used by some to help remove plastic residue left behind from sabots. Since I don't shoot sabots I have no first hand knowledge of it actually working.

Water soluble cleaners is all I've ever used.

Never Have. T/C 13 if I recall right or warm soap an water for subs except Blackhorn 209 which get regular bore solvents.

I have used acetone in the past for the bore.
Was having accuracy issues and to eliminate one possible variable (sabot plastic build up in the bore), I scrubbed it with bore cleaner and then acetone.
Other than that, I now only use BH209, so just use Hoppes.

If using BH209 any modern bore cleaner like Hoppes or Butches. Soap and water if using bp, pyrodex. Will never do Triple7 again. Crud removal is a PITA.

Blue Dawn soap and the hottest water your hands can stand.

This right here.
Been using the same since I started in the early 80's with black powder, then Pyrodex, now 777.
Works like a charm, and on the 777 you can use just a tiny bit of soap.
