Muzzle Loader Advice

I posted this on the ML section but wanted to try here as well. I just bought an as new Thompson Center Impact ML. Paid $130. I need to add a scope. Thinking about getting the Leupold Ultimate Slam n either 2x7 or 3x9 on a Game Rwaper single piece scope mount. Also thinking about have it Ceracoated. Comments?

Maybe you should add that your going to shoot 3 bucks with it next deer season. Sorry could not help myself and wish I could help with your scope question.

I just put a nikon buckmasters bdc on my muzzleloader. 3-9x40. Very pleased. Don't believe you could go wrong with the leupold

Three bucks for the season and three spikes per day for a total of 45 "bucks" during the two week MZ season.

The leupold is no doubt a high quality scope... not sure what the cost is.... Leupold also makes the Redfield
I would highly suggest you go look at a Redfield Revolution 3x9x40...the non critical eye relief is outstanding better than any scope I've looked through.
Optic clarity is outstanding.
Both have the same warranty..

Guys, the Leupold is on Sale at Cabelas (I've not shopped yet) for $249. I didn't know Leupold made Redfield. I'll definitely give them a look. Don't know if anyone has checked out the Game Reaper scope mounts, but these are one piece, machined mounts, thus eliminating issues of misaligned rings. Thanx for the tips and keep them coming. I'm sure this will beat my TC New Englander rifle.

i have a leupold 3-9x33 compact on mine and love it.

Just remember that a shorter scope like a 2x7x33 will most of the time mount further forward on the mounts limiting the eye relief.
Thats my experience... it's not all that bad, just depends on the mounts used and rifle.

I'd go vortex their on sale@ midway USA 4 99.99 ships free too its a 3-9_40 or you can get the 4-12-40 for 129 I'm switching all my scopes to vortex vipers

I stopped by Bass Pro tonight and they didn't have the Leupold but I did see the Diamondback and wasn't impressed. I did like the Redfield Revolution a lot.

I have a Leupold vx2 3x9x40 on my TC Omega and love it! You can pick the hair you want to hit with it.

Bushnell Elite, Redfield Revolution, Burris drop tine. All of these are great scopes and worth considering imo.

I ordered the Talley one piece rail and rings for my Tradtitions Vortek. I only use Talley anymore. I love them. Expensive, but worth the money. I also have all Vortex Viper scopes (3) except for one Nikon Buckmasters. I will be putting the Buckmasters on the muzzleloader and ordering another Vortex Viper for the rifle the Buckmasters comes off of. Unless I decide to purchase a higher-end Zeiss, like the Conquest HD5 2-10x42, I will never buy anything but Vortex. The Diamondback HP supposedly has the same glass as the Viper and comes in a 3-12x42. I am going to look at one of those this week.

I should report I went to look at the Redfield one more time at Bass Pro. When I went Saturday they didn't have the Leupold, supposedly. They did on Sunday. As much as I liked the Redfield, the Leupold was simply clearer and brighter. I ordered it along with a Game Reaper scope mount. My rifle shows yo tomorrow and I should have everything by this weekend. Guys, thanx for your willingness to advise this old fart.

You are talking about the DNZ scope mount, correct? If so I have them on two different rifles now and getting ready to put them on another. I have Leupold and Talley LW's on other rifles, but prefer the DNZ's over both.

This is what I have as well. It works just fine.
