Poser, thank you for posting that piece. I love the comments in the NY Times. The NY liberal bed-wetters love to opine on all things nature. They who can't even pick up fecal matter after they walk their dog in Central Park.
Mule deer winter range is what is under assault. There is ample summer forage but winter range is under the gun. Humans build things on the winter range. Humans win.

Do you really believe that you can trust anything in the NYtimes? These fools endorsed Jobama..twice. Geez you people are gullible. They endorse every anti-gun and hunting candidate. Why would they print the truth about this: a clearly pro hunting article? Man is always the destroyer to these people. If it were not for hunting groups most of our top deer and fowl and antelope would be gone by now. Liberals didn't move turkey or buy land for habitat. They will buy land to keep someone from drilling for oil or mining coal. People who hunt take care of game animals not politicians.

Like said before winter range is crucial and is deteriorating. Federal land is being threatened now as well, MT and WY both ate trying to take control of it.
Speaking of winter range, did you know a rancher only has to pay around $1.70 for a cow/calf pair to graze on federal lands? Considerably less than what private landowners charge ranchers. Here in lies one funding problem. That cheap hunters could foot the bill and automatically provide more forage and increase survival rates overnight.

The only ones that endorsed Jobama, are the Libs that live in New York City. Not the rest of us in New York State. The real problem is that the city has 13 million of those asses.
