Great recap of your trip! Can't beat memories made with family! Nice read. What cal/bullet did they fall to?

I was shooting a 742 carbine 30.06 topped with some cheap nameless scope, its a rifle I have had forever that is my brush/rain gun. I treat it like a junk yard dog, not sure if I have ever cleaned it and it is missing a screw on the rings. I will shoot it three times before season to check grouping and Im good from then on out, usually only need to change things up if Im shooting a different grain bullet. I should really treat it better but Im afraid I will mess things up. I still have the scopeless T3 lite in 7mm that I will one day finish and start shooting, I did purchase some low talley rings for it last month and attempted to put my Vx23x9x50 on it but the objective was too big. My plan is to put something in the 4-12x40 range on it with B&C reticle, thought about the VX3i but still undecided, leaning towards a Vortex at the moment but who knows.

My grandfather shoots a sweet BLR 30.06 with 180grains. with a Vx2 3x9x40.

Was gonna say I thought I remembered a post about you getting a new tikka. It'll be night and day difference from what you're use to especially with good glass.

Congrats to both of you! Sounds like a great trip. My father and I are booking our first trip out west in the next week or so. Can't wait!

Just caught up with this story. What a great adventure you and your Granddad had!! Memories you will cherish always and i'm sure he will as well.
Good for you for letting him share another hunt with you.
I hope my Grandson does the same for me one of these years, lol.

Like your hunt photos.
Get that Tika up and running. I took my T3 Lite to the range today, .270, and the first 3 shots were in one hole. Amazing. But, that barrel heats up fast. After the walk down and back, the next 3 opened up to about an inch.
Love this gun!
