I was toying with the notion of a fast 25 caliber from shooting with some fellows who campaign 257 Weatherbys. I went looking at the 280 case and was gonna do the 25/280AI untill I realized how bad the BC is for those bullets. I came to my senses, and whipped my 6.5/06 die in the press and necked down the 280 to 6.5 and see what you been talking about. I seated a bullet (my Favorite) 130 grain Accubond to where the bearing surface ends at the case, neck junction aand am now in the process of having a reamer made. I have decided on a .294" loaded round which will mean a very slight clean up pass (001" to .0015) with a neck turner will be needed. I am thinking this rifle with a 26" barrel will push the 130 to right at 3250 to crowding 3300 fps.

Want one?

I bet the bearing surface is shorter on the 123, if I had one I could tell you. My gut feeling says yessir. The 123 should be out in the neck further. Only a smidge. It has a much longer boatail, all this is money in the bank.

I`m thinking a FL S-Type 280AI die, with a .292" bushing is all the expense involved.

A blank Wilson 6.5 in-line seater with it reamed with the chamber reamer for the seater, and we is in bidness.

remember I thought of it first.

I can`t help but beleive the 6.5-280AI in a long action will smoke a 6.5-284 and get real close to 264 WM performance with 10 grs less powder...

My 25-06 will be the donar action and I hope to put it in a Sendero-II stock with a 28 inch Sendero Contour bbl without the flutes and a brake..but it will probably be a year.

I beleive it will be the exact thing I was looking for in a cartridge,,it should shoot the 123 about the same as the RUM will a 190-200 gr with about 65 grs of powder, and the 120-130 gr bullets will kill anything I`ll ever hunt.
how much is half a reamer cost..unless somethin tragic happens,I`ll be sending you the action next spring sometime.

be nice to see your speeds with the 26 before I do mine.
