I built a decoy using a real deer hide. It has removable antlers, and the tail moves. It is turning out VERY cool. I just lack a little finish work and airbrushing. I put it up to test it in my yard, and the neighbors kept driving off the road looking at it. I'm a little afraid of getting shot carrying it, so I've ordered a blaze orange miniature horse blanket for it. I can't post pics or vid, but I can email it if someone wants to post it.
 
By the way your describing it I bet that thing doesn't last a week. Hope you're not around it when someone tries to blow it away from their truck window. Orange blanket or not there are a lot of stupid people that would take a shot at it. I would put it on here for you but I'm going to bed. I'm exhausted. They'll be plenty help you though.
 
I would only use it on private land for safety sake. Should be interesting for sure. I've got one of the plastic decoys that can be made into a buck or doe but have not used it much. It bothers me that it is a deers Summer colors rather than their Fall gray. I added a small white rag to the tail so I get a little movement in a breeze but like I said, I haven't really used it enough to declare it a failure or not.
 
NO WAY am I taking this thing onto public land or within sight of a road. My main idea is to take it to KS during the rut. I reinforced everything with rebar and used apoxie sculpt instead of clay on all parts. If nothing else, it looks good enough to go into my trophy room or one of my displays somewhere.
 
Just curious as what tan u used? Looks good.....good pose for decoy with ears back....
 
WOW! I'd definitely do a double take if I saw a kid standing next to that thing out in someone's front yard. Are you a taxidermist? Looks very professional.
 
That looks great! I would take the horns off when carrying and get as much orange around it as possible. TWRA should hire you to do a robo deer for them!

I used a spray tan (king's sure cure).
I thought that the ears back was a good submissive pose. I started to tilt the chin down and turn the ears a bit more to make it look more aggressive, but I figured that this would get more reactions.

I couldn't legally just make one and sell it. However, if a client were to provide the legally taken animal, I could do one in a pose and with options of his choosing just like anyone else. Pm me if you're curious. Trying not to violate any ad rules on here. Just thought that this was too cool not to share.
 
Its actually all thread that I used. Weight is not very bad because from the ribcage back was hollowed out for easy access to the tail motor. Those mounts are not nearly as heavy as most would think.
 
That's far better than I expected. That buck could walk away at any moment! I'd like to see a video of it with the motion if it's possible.
