Going to be in the market for a new motor for the boat.
60-75hp 4 stroke Yamaha or Merc.

Got that much decided.

Here is the question part.
New or 2-5 yr old used?
Where to shop online to get ball park on prices?

If possible, find an older model 2 stroke Merc still in the crate if possible. Be worth every penny and hour spent searching. IMO.
 
I will agree with the yamaha statement. The tourney boat i fish out of had a swap from a merc 250 to a sho 250, night and day difference
 
Yamaha. If I were motor shopping that would be the one I would look for. It depends on how much $ we are talking for used vs new. A used motor might require some added $ to make it right, but 1500$-2000$ can fix most motor problems. Just depends on the price difference.

Yamaha makes the 4 stroke Mercs under 100hp.
I prefer Yamahas from previous motors but hey, I don't care what color it is, just what is under the box.

Leaning toward new. The 3-5yr old used Yamaha/mercs in my HP run about $1200-2000 less than a new one.
