Mossberg 500 Spring replacement?

I keep meaning to look at my 500 riot gun when I get home but forget it every night. Maybe I'll remember tonight. I know I've never had the spring out of a 500 though. One thing I do to avoid spring fatigue is to never leave the gun loaded with more than 3 shells in spite of it being a riot gun that I have for home defense. Leaving it loaded with only 4 shells(1 in chamber + 3 in magazine) may seem unwise for a home defense gun but reliability is also essential in a defensive situation. To address the low round count, I have one of the elastic butt stock shell-holders that hold 6 shells. This way if I grab the gun up in the dark, I always have access to the 4 shots in the gun plus an extra 6.

Most of the time its rust causing the problem.a pipe wrench and a vice is the only option if its not rust.regular threads.cut a stick because the plug was left out after a deer hunt.cut a green stick that dried crooked.

Id stay away from any thing hotter than a hair dryer.like I said rust will prob be the culprit
