Mornings or evenings?

Which do you prefer for the velvet hunt? I'm not liking the idea of hanging in the stand until 8 pm but I really think the odds are better in the afternoons around green bean fields. I'm gonna skip the mornings even though it will be more comfortable. I just don't think I can get in without spooking deer.

I'd agree with the beans in the evening, much easier to get into the stand and the deer tend to be a little more predictable on when they will show up in the evening.

Evening hunts will probably be more productive as far as seeing buck movement. Sure makes for a long sit if your in the stand by 3:30 or so because you won't see much before the last 15-20 minutes of shooting light. Sounds strange but I've seen more movement prior to the season in the middle of a hot day than I have between then and the last few minutes before dark.

Afternoons only if hunting beanfields....you will blow them out in the mornings. Bucks bed very close to their food source this time of year.

Mornings. Get to stand hour before daybreak. See most deer at 9am. Done evening hunts, but don't really want to track blood at night, so morning for me.

Don't have any crop fields but will just hunt the evening in a small woodlot around overgrown and pasture fields.

You know they are. There is a reason A LOT of outfitters in KY and the Midwest only allow evenings bow hunts early in the season, when targeting their best bucks. It's all about the best odds for their client and getting a crack at that bruiser buck before you alert him that you are there.

I don't have bean fields or any fields. I have a couple of salt licks (trophy rock) that is it. I will hunt morning and afternoon on the days I can. I will not hunt all day long. Probably 3-4 hrs in the AM and then 2-3 hrs in the PM, with a break in between.

If your afraid of spooking your buck in the morning aren't you also afraid of spooking him in the evening?
I say hunt your buck anytime you can for the first 3-4 days then back out for a few weeks.
Ill be sitting on a bean field with a small pond 50 yards away.

There are 2 bucks I will take and they have been at my mineral site anywhere from 730am, 2pm and 7pm. I will make all day sits if I have to. I don't have a food source nearby to rely on.

normally i wouldnt hunt the mornings even if i did have a target buck bed narrowed down, but tomorrows morning is going to be much cooler whole summer. I would chance it and hunt over a bedding area with the expectation that they will be late getting back to bed, unfortunately I have to work all weekend

Basically betting on him coming in downwind of his bed then hooking around and coming to his bed. They do it so they can watch their original trail before they hook to avoid predators and still be able to smell behind them.
