I know this has been covered before but I cannot find the prior threat.

What do you prefer, or when have you killed the most deer Morning or Evenings?
 
Hands down mornings for me on mature bucks, specifically between 8:30 & 10:30 AM. In 40+ years of deer hunting I only recall seeing 2 mature bucks in afternoon. However, on does it is definately afternoon. Sure that is because I typically hunt food sources in PM.
 
Based on nothing but preference, I like evenings. Looking back I guess I have killed more bucks in the morning but have had more success in the evening.
 
The 4 mature shooters (4.5 years +) that I have seen this year have been in the afternoon. I am yet to see one this year in the mornings eventhough I prefer hunting mornings. Come to think of it, I can only remember 1 being seen this year in the morning bewtween dad, brother, and myself... Think I will start sleeping in...

I think it really depends on how your land is set-up. Some properties may be better in the mornings and some better in the afternoons. Some are just never good.

I honestly think it is very location specific. Some properties experience more morning activity and some more evening activity. And even on a single property, which is better will will change with the seasons and the year.
 
I prefer morning hunts but usually work in the evenings so I am glad to take any free evening I got to hunt. I love getting on deer that are coming out to feed in the evening and killed a 3.5yo 8 pt last year at dusk but I don't like how the prime time is shorter and my time is limited to nightfall whereas in the morning I can choose to sit longer if I want. But evening hunting once a week or so keeps me excited for the evenings while I may hunt a few mornings in the week.
 
just depends honestly counting back on my kills it is about half and half and ive killed a few mid day as in 10-2. personally I like mornings I see more deer that are misjudged on evening hunts and more stupid shots on deer in the evenings. the light is your friend. that's one of the main reasons I like mornings.
 
Mornings for me. Normally between 7-10 is when I see the most action. Even though I hunt afternoons they are mostly non eventful.
 
I too prefer mornings but its really dependent on the property, as all can be different.
