That deer died about 2 weeks ago . And not non typical deer are pen raised.

pic is misleading. His head was huge and his neck was fairly good size. never saw a doe with anywhere near the size of his head.

My question is why couldn't the guy that hit it keep him?

The Lincoln Co. game warden thinks he was hit on the highway. He made it about 400 yards from highway and was found on a dead end road laying in a hayfield. The game warden inspected him and ruled that the cause of death. There was no bullet holes, just bruised up meat. He found the deer October 30th, so I would assume his neck wasn't fully swollen.
