More on acorns...

Narrowing down what they are on right now... The trees are so close together, in some cases the acorns are actually mixed from shifting winds and rolling downhill. Here are the three that I have been finding everywhere. The largest of the trio is the one they are hammering... Do you know what it is?

Guessing it's in the white oak family but no to what tree no clue .

I need to see the caps. Caps are the defining point of most acorns.

also if you can find a leaf from each tree. leaves really help in the definition of the tree type

I should have grabbed a cap... It was an afterthought to pick that one up as I was leaving...

It appears to be striped like a Nuttall or Cherrybark Oak.

Many acorns have the same shape and color. But each species has a slightly different cap shape.

I went back to the tree. The larger acorns are really dropping now, but there are no caps on the ground.
