More Hog Pictures

Well the weather has been pretty bad the last few weeks. Add to that my aunt died and I'm helping clean up her stuff. So I haven't been back to check my cameras.



It turns out the hogs really didn't start moving until it rained. I'm guessing that the temperature is keeping them down in the low lands where there is water. Regardless I have spotted quite a few on my cameras. The good thing that I see is that they are mainly active early in the morning-perfect for me to hunt before work! :)

Today I put out a bag of corn and some more "Pig Out". Across the road where the creek is located it put out a camera and some more "Pig Out'. There isn't much sign over there, but I put out a camera just in case. The farmer has just planted some crops over there and asked me to look.

Okay, instead of dumping corn and "Pig Out", I'm thinking of putting out a feeder. Do you think if I just set it to go off just before daylight that they will acclimate to it? Or does it matter? I'm also going to put a "pin hole" in another jug of "Pig Out" and then mix some dry attractant in the corn. I think that will get maximum effect.

When I bait for hogs I put at least 100lbs, if not 200lbs, in a big mud hole and keep it full of corn. That's the only way I can keep them coming consistently. Make it their primary food source or your waisting your time.

Thanks for the advice! My real fear is that I keep them coming to this guy's farm! I'm trying to help him out, but I can't when it is so "hit and miss" and I'm an hour's drive away. I was thinking that the feeder spreading food at the same time every day "might" work. I just don't know. These have been hunted before but not by me. I told him that the best way to help him is for us to start trapping them. While not as fun for me, it would still give me plenty of meat.

BTW what is the best way to get bulk corn like that? Sure I can go buy bags of corn at the local suspects, but I'd like to get it a little cheaper if possible.

When the larger group came by, they wiped out all the corn at one time. What I didn't put on the video are all the deer, turkeys, and raccoons that are eating the bait as well! :D

Put it in a big mudhole. That'll keep the deer and turkeys out for the most part. We get it buy the tri Axle truck load normally. It's much cheaper but not at first LoL. You gotta have a place to keep it or it'll rot quick

Just to add to fredfreds suggestion, not only will the mud hole deter other critters, the hogs will have to root for the bait which will make it last much longer. You can also take a set of post hole diggers and dig bout a three foot deep hole and pour the corn in it for basically the same results and THEN if you want really good results, poor a case of cheap beer in with that! ;)

I believe there are two less in that gang after making a run on them yesterday evening. ;) If you are interested in some meat, PM me within the next 3 days. Be glad to give you some. May I request that you start feeding some citrus. I like them self marinated :D Those hogs are in the beans across the road as well as some corn to the North. This rain should keep them around for a while longer.

LOL! :D They were eating "Pig Out" the last few days. It has a nice aroma. :P I'd love some meat! I promised them some sausage if I ever got a hog down there. I was pondering going tomorrow morning for a little bit.

A friend of mine is going to have some Federal sponsored trappers start on his farm shortly.
I may put a cam by their bait.
They told him they figured on taking around 100 hogs when they are done.
We will see how it goes.
I have seen 2, over 300 pounds during spring Turkey season with only bird shot in my gun.

So does the guy working the post hole diggers. It wouldn't be a full case by the time I got the hole dug. :D
