This is apic of a new plot that I had done. He didn't make it as big as I wanted but I may leave it. Great plot for mid season. This angle is tough to see it all but here it is.

This pic is from my main plot. The leangth is 174 yards longbut this is the back third cleaned up. I had several trees that was stopping growth so we cleaned it up. Now it's ready to plant, almost.

Here is a road that I had re-routed. Not as steap as the other but a little longer.

I also enlarged another plot andback filled around the cabin. I will get pics later for that along with a new project that will hopefully be done on the ridgetop today. Hope you enjoy!
 
I love how a dozer can change the appearance of a place. That all looks good.

I am getting a plot expanded and going to get some new trails in this summer...also want to open up a spot or two for some more fruit trees next winter.

What acreage do you think your up to on plots RMBBQ?
 
I am not sure on the acreage, I need to get a gps and map them out. My place is really thick so the plots add a nice touch.

Eventually I would like enough to rotate based on season. With only 60 acres I don't want to get carried away.

Update: he's going to try to enlarge plot in first pic. It was really wet and he was hoping this afternoon it would be dry enough to finish it. This will be called "maddies" plot. She was jealous because her brother had one named after him. Good thing I only have two kids. Ha!
 
Looks good Rich. I regret not having some of mine made bigger first, I didnt because of some big valuable timber in the way, but now regret not just pushing it over. I plan on having that done in the next year or so to add another 2 acres. Lessons learned right.

Yeah, I agree. I just didn't want to be the food plot capital of perry county. I realize now that it doesn't mean I have to hunt them. A few of them I'll hunt once or twice a year and one I've never hunted.

Chris, my schedule for the next three months is scaring me. Tons of stuff going on, plus I have to squeeze a 7 day cruise in there around the 4th. Cabin has been back filled and is looking really good. In the fall you definately need to come bowhunt. I think this is going to be my best year out there.

I here you on the thick. My place is too thick to hunt in a lot of areas, but that also helps hold the deer. Im actually trying to set back some areas to let them regrow into briars bc I am starting to get pole timber. I want briars and browse, plots, or hardwoods. The plots seem to be relegated to the ridge tops with the exceptions of a few dozer paths Im going to try and get in preinial clover this next winter.

I'm not under the impression that more plots on my small scale will equal bigger deer but I do hope it keeps an extra doe or two around and the increased visability is nice from time to time.

Best of luck with all you have going on. My dozer work is free as a part of the oil lease agreement but that sometimes means I can't get everything done when I'm ready for it...probably couldnt afford to get it done all at once if I payed for it out right though too.
 
BoyGuy, I wrestle with the same thing. I need to really get a grip on some of my sweet gum, popular and other trees that out compete my oaks. In the bottom, that I just made the new plot, I will have hours of work getting that stuff out. In July look for a thread that is titled "Quailman I need help". This will be to pursue the best herbicide to kill all the stuff I call "suck trees".
 
Look forward to what you see as being the best option. Mine are mostly tulup poplar and I'm trying to get the continuous areas dozed to plant fruit trees. My oaks are doing pretty well up the ridges so I'll spend some time clearing around the real boomers to free their crowns up this summer.
 
Count me in Rich. Let me get the hammer done with soccer and her DC trip and we'll come down for a weeked to help out around the place.
