Been kinda dead on this forum. I guess it makes sense, since it is a deer hunting site and deer season is open. I just ain't had the itch to go hunt yet, and I like crappie better than deer anyway...and they are just now heating up.
Back to the Chick yesterday. Slow bite...cold and windy, and rain. Harrison Bay is new to us and every time we go down there, the fish have moved in a major way. But one thing we have noticed is that the local fisherman are creatures of habit. They fish the same exact spots every time. It's almost like clock work...when one person leaves a spot, their boat wake doesn't even get gone before another boat is pulling up on that same spot. It's like musical chairs. We're fishing in areas that we've not seen anybody fishing in, and doing rather well at it. Fish were still on the crankbait bite. We fished with grubs and tubes for a while because we thought the water was getting too cold for them to chase a crankbait...but all we caught on those were the little yellow bass/stripe.
10 keepers yesterday. Had just as many come to the top and get off. They weren't hitting them as hard as they had been; they would just slack your line and barely be hooked.
