I was told someone killed a HUGE buck that may break the TN state record in Sumner Co. Possible offspring of mine from 2001.

Anyone have any ideas?

He's a big one but I don't think you should be concerned about him coming anywhere close to 244. He does look like he could get to 200.

From what I understand he was killed pretty far away from where yours was killed. We hunt within a half mile of your dad's old farm, so maybe we can get on a great grandson!

It's a cool deer because it's non-typical, and any sane person would be tickled with him. But the head looks small (youngish), and comparing it to the size of that guy's hand, it doesn't look ANYWHERE close to 200"

He was deffinately a swamp donkey cull buck shooter on the hit list that got smoked.

I talked to some TWRA personal Sat. at a check in station, and they said the buck scored 170. I should have ask him, but I am sure that score was a net figure.

There is a net on a deer like that? Heck, they haven't had time to have scored him. They would still be arguing and measuring and making chalk marks and such.

Old hickory lake WMA. There's a ton of Corp property along the Cumberland River / old hickory lake you can hunt. A lot of it is small pieces of land but great hunting if you do the work

i dont think you have anything to worrie about on your record. he is bigger than what he looks but he is not a 244 deer. im thinking he will net in the 180's and gross close to 200. at this point im just happy to of had an opportunity to see such an animal. i will get him back from the taxidermist on the 23rd and bass is going to put a tape to him. the official score will happen on the 6th of January.

I go to church with the officer that green scored him. And he is at the taxidermist I use I seen him when I took my 8 to him. Lol. Nice buck

I thought the hunting was no good on public lands? ;)

Passed up a "mid-120's" buck twenty minutes before this one came along . . . . . . .

No idea where you heard that Wes.
I almost exclusively hunt public land and I have killed several big bruisers.
Doe and buck!

it is always amazing the monster bucks that are passed up just before or after a good buck is killed

I figured it was OH. I have a boat and generally hunt that way on Priest. OH is a bit further and I don;t know the lake that well to run it in the dark. Plus i have a wife and kid so free time to figure these things out are few and far between. I can tell you i have fished there a few times and when you are way back in those coves, I will see rubs on trees the size of telephone poles. I know they're in there......
