Modified Rage broadheads!!!

I bought some Rage broadheads from a TNdeer member, but I did not care for the O-ring system, so I did some modifying with a dremel and my daughters left-over rubber bands from her braces...the end result:

Yeah you need to check that. I did that once when I uses to shoot them and the three blades didn't work with that

I leave the original o rings on lock the blades in then put the ortho band around them like you have it, have never had a problem with them opening!

They sell the Shock Collars for the original Rage. It eliminates the o ring.

I love my rages! I never had problems with o rings and ive been testing shock collar and like it!

I didn't know about the Shock Collars!!! LOL!! I have shot Rocky Mtn. Snypers for years - before they ever made a Rage. Rage bought the design, from what I understand, from Rocky Mtn and started producing Rages. The difference between the Snypers and Rages is Rage has the o-ring that holds the blades in place around the bottom of the blades, while the Snyper has notches toward the top of the blades that a rubber band fits in.

I simply took a Rage and converted it to a Snyper. I cut little notches for the rubber band to fit in and eliminated the o-ring around the bottom. I believe it will work just fine, but I will certainly shoot them to make sure.

The reason I didn't like the O-ring at the bottom,
1. Too easy to bump and have blades "pop" out of o-ring.
2. It seemed to be it would be too difficult to get them back in place in a hunting situation.

We will see how it works, but as I said, they are almost identical now to the Snypers I have shot for years.

Rage cost me a huge Ohio buck last year. When I drew back I noticed that one of the blades had came loose. I was at full draw of course. The buck was at 35 yds and I released the arrow on a prayer but watched it literally take a nose dive and was a complete miss. If they work for ya and have not had an issue, so be it but Im back to Muzzy.

That is the main reason I modified these. To me, the Rages seemed like this would be so easy to happen. I have been hunting with the Snyper broadheads (which utilize the rubber band around the outside of the blades) and have never had a problem with blade coming loose.

i dont bow hunt anymore. but if i did, i wouold shoot a simple reliable fixed blade head

I understand, but I have shot expandables for at least 15 years without one problem.
