Model 700 ADL

Fellas I just traded for a model 700 adl in 7mag.....heard bad things about em but this one is shooting dime size groups with 150gr fed premium ammo and a cheap scope

Hard to go wrong with a Remington 700. Especially if you traded for an older one. I've owned several over the years and yet to be disappointed with Remington 700 accuracy.

Never heard of any problems with the ADL. The newer SPS models have a different trigger and finish, but you can't beat an older ADL.

I agree 100% the old remingtons were awesome guns I would say you got yourself a keeper.

I have a 700 ADL in 7mag that was built in 1974. I put a Zeiss Conquest 4.5-14x44 on top of it recently. Took it out for fine tuning and was touching the same holes every time. I absolutely love mine and wouldn't part with it at all.

Hasn't happened to me. In fact I think my trigger is a bit heavy.

There were a bunch of lawsuits but I believe, someone yea or nay me here, that Remington fought every one and won every one. It was profiled on I think CNBC as a hit piece but Remington came out smelling like a rose.

I have never had my Remington 700 discharge accidentally.

Only when modified by "gunsmiths" to unsafe levels or fire controls that were found to be EXTREMELY dirty.

DING, DING, DING!

Saw a 700ML do it once at a range. I asked the guy to let me break it down and when I removed the trigger pins I had to pry the trigger out. It was caked with so much Pyrodex residue mixed with oil that the sear couldn't reset properly. He refused to even take it home, I bought it for $50 and let the trigger soak in Hoppes' for a few hours, cleaned it up and it was perfect.

Similar experience here with my late 80s .270 ADL. It is still shooting lights out and it was also purchased from K-Mart. My late grandfather bought it for me when I was 13 or so and it has been a GREAT rifle by all means.

If you have a sonic cleaner, put your trigger assembly in and you won't believe the gunk that comes out. When done be sure to blow it completely dry, water seems to hide everywhere. Feels like a new trigger.

I have a model 700 ADL in 7 mm Mag. I like it.

However it did the firing thing when the bolt was cycled and safety switched, especially if I loaded a bullet and set it aside, like during a hunt. I wasn't a problem shooting it and sighting it in, though. It happened a few yrs ago, but I figured it was probably because I wasn't familiar with the rifle. But it happened twice in one hunt this year, when I had the crosshairs on a broadside buck at 150 yds. To say I was mad was an understatment. I threw the rifle out of the shooting box window as far as I could out of frustration.

Ok, I didn't really do that, but it crossed my mind. :crazy: I called one of the inlaws, told him what happened and he told me to clean the trigger. He texted me the steps to do it, and I did it when I got home. It must've solved the problem, because I shot a button buck at 200 yds the next morning with no issues.
