Mock scrape techniques.....

Just wondering how people make these...when...and if they seem to work ....some of the time, all the time..? Do you refresh them and how often?

What do you consider "work?" Kill bucks off them? I rarely if ever kill bucks working any scrape, mock or real. Get bucks to use them? If that is the definition of "work," I've been doing so very successfully for 15 years. In fact, it is my primary technique for getting bucks on camera in October and November.

I had a few scrapes in front of my stand 20+ years ago on land I hunted in Ms. Just to see what happened I pissed in one of them before climbing up. To my amazement every deer that came by them stopped to check them out and a couple of bucks re-worked them. I quit carrying a pee bottle and let it fly from the stand every since. I can't tell you how many times I've had deer at the base of my tree checking out that scent. The whole "piss thing" changed for me. I've been doing it every since.

It's the next best thing to baiting for bucks. I suggest trying using your right hand to freshen up your scrape initially and then switching to your left hand next to see which works better for you. Once you are proficient with either hand you have entered the realm of a master baiter.

I use to do a great deal of mock scraping just for information and study. Pretty hard to kill a big buck off one. They are primarily a communication device. I used only my own urine and the two most important factors are location and a licking branch. Have no need for them anymore.

My son and I literally just got in from the field. We made (2) mock scrapes and put up some game cameras. I found a good use for my 4 year old who needs to pee every 30 minutes!

I prefer the unzip technique, it's a lot easier and less time consuming...

Yep!!! Piss in a milk jug or I prefer a bucket save your next empty fresh earth cover scent spray bottle get you a funnel and fill it up. I started with the milk jug but me alone I couldn't produce enough so now when I'm at work I have my ole sittin on the bucket.
