I know there are several good bullets out there now (and some crappy ones) but here is a 245 gn Barnes spit-fire MZ recovered from an old 10 pt this morning. If you're in the market for a bullet, I'd try these. Boattail bullet. Very accurate to boot.
 
Barnes 250 T-EZ. Been using them for a dozen years. The only one that didn't completely pass thru was on a quartering to, big bodied buck, and it looked exactly like that one. Perfect mushroom shape, no petals broken off. Very happy with the results over the years. It would take a really great new bullet to get me to change.

Barnes are great bullets. If I were going after Moose,elk,, bear or Caribou I would certainly invest in some. Never seen the need to spend that kind of money to kill white tails and pigs though,

So they cost a bit more ? How many shots are people taking with their muzzleloader during a season ?? We spend hundreds of dollars on other "stuff" all going towards a precious few days in the woods ...

A few extra dollars on the "actual" items that gets it done - is very insignificant ..

A quick kill , and less tracking is worth way more than the extra cost ..

Looks to have performed well! Hornady 250 grn XTP will see very similar performance time and time again as we have used them for over 20 yrs with similar results.

I gotta agree on the XTP bullets. They are awesome on deer. I've killed several with them.
 
I shoot the Barnes Spitfire T-EZ 290 grain. I started shooting the 290 in preparation for my first elk hunt, liked it so much I've stuck with it for deer. They shoot
great in my rifle.
 
Barnes are excellent! Worth the extra price for a peace of mind and confidence.
