Missed one

Hunted Catoosa this morning and only heard 2 birds a long ways off, so had to go check some new places out and ended up finding a willing bird around 3:00. He answered the first yelp then I waited about 5min and he answered the second yelp.....then we both went silent. He was to the left and of course snuck in on the right, could only see his head across the plot. He wanted to fan but would never commit and kept stretching his neck up high to look around. Well, he started quartering away and I panicked, got greedy and shot. He just jumped up and flew over the tree line, seemed fine to me. Never found a feather, not one. Found the wad at 49yds, still had a few pellets in it. 5,6,7 3.5 Mag blend, when patterning these the wad would be at 30-35yds. Figuring the gobbler was at about 53yds.....I should have never shot and waited to see how it played out. Argh! That one hurt!

I feel your pain I'm 0-2 with magblends this season even though they were great on paper....? Better luck next time.
