Middle TN Public Land - Wayne County

Let's talk about public lands in Wayne County. There have always been some nice bucks killed there. It is also a long drive from most populated areas.

I'll be in Lawrenceburg for a week. I have plans to travel to Fort Campbell if I can get an area I want, hunt some family land, and then hit Laurel Hill after Thanksgiving.

I am familiar with Eagle Creek from 25 years ago prior to the tree slaughter! It can offer tough hunting that rivals the mountain foothills of east TN in some places.

What about Arnold Hollow, Browntown, and Tie Camp WMA's?

What is terrain like? Is it mostly old cutover? Accessibility? Covered up with hunters? Buck quality? Current population? Rut timing? Any gated logging roads that I could use a bike?

It's best to keep intel to private messages and not post it all on a forum. I've never been to eagle creek but it's on my bucket list. Best thing you can do is scout the map and then scout in person

Take a long rope...... the ridges are about 20' wide on the top and 1/4 mile deep off each side!

I hunted Wayne County back in the 80's, it held some good bucks back then too..

At that time there were no WMA's there other than Eagle Creek, But Paper Companies owned thousands of acres you could hunt by buying a permit..

I have hunted Browntown. Lots of big timber and deep hollows. Hurting pressure didn't seem to be all that bad. Lots of deer.

The terrain on the South (of Clifton Turnpike) side is not as bad. Still steep but nothing like that North-East corner.

The Lutts area around Horse Creek has always held good bucks...
I don't know if there's public land available too hunt there now or not.

The Cypress Inn / Pumping Station Rd. area is another good place to look at.

Looks like Browntown is around Lutts. Tie Camp is most convenient and fastest so may start there.
