Middle TN Chinkapin acorn forecast?

Anyone been able to tell if the chinkapins, or other white oaks for that matter, have much in the way of acorns on them? I really need a decent pair of 10x binoculars, because neither my Leupold or Steiner 8x's cut it when it comes to checking for acorns.

White Oaks in East Tn are loaded. Some limbs hanging low to the ground because of added acorn weight.

I cant hardly see chinkapin acorns in the tree so I dont know. There are two big white oaks behind the house that arealready dropping. I expect the chinkapins will be good in some areas and not so good in others, that's usually the case

Ill check on mine Sunday. This weekend in ky, I have never seen a mast crop like what sits in the branches right now. Once they cut the beans, hunting might get tough until the rut....

Red oaks around my place are loaded. The chinkapins that I have looked at are bare, had a pretty good crop of them last year.

I did a chink survey in Eagle Creek from the roadway only a month ago on the north side which runs about 9 miles thru that 22000 acres and I can tell you the chinks were sort of spotty, some and as I counted it would be about every 5 to 7 trees....I think it will be on the light side in that area, but I can tell you the White oaks seem to be moderate in most places with some trees loaded. Also a friend of mine says the red oaks are on the ground..starting.....in many places and the deer are pounding them as well as the squirrels are cutting them already. I am guessing overall that the acorn crop will prob be moderate to better than that by a little in middle tn, or southern portion below Columbia. Good for sure in Wayne county.

Thanks. Red oak acorns started dropping here last month. It won't hurt my feelings at all if the chinkapin crop is light.
