Middle Tennessee Creek Wading

I am looking for some new spots to wade around the Columbia area. I have waded a lot over the years, Fountain Creek off 50, several spots on the Buffalo River, and several others but wondered if anyone knew of any others around the Columbia area.

I am planning to wade fountain creek with a buddy tomorrow. Have barely fished there and want to learn some new waters.

Same here, fountain is really good. Let me know how ya'll do, we will probably be there Friday. We usually put in there off hwy 50 at the Yanahli horseback site and walk upstream. If you can get there and catch some small crawdads use them on just a hook and drop them down in any small opening along the banks, good fishing usually.

thats where we are going, I will probably post an update on how the fishing is.

Fountain has been really good to me years ago. Leipers has been really, really good to me in the past, but all my holes have filled in during the last twenty years.

Great memories...back in my misspent youth(40 plus years ago) I use to love to wade several creeks in the area. Fountain Creek near where Silver Creek emptied into it was a favorite. Also Carter's, Bigby, Rutherford, Cathy, and Swan were attempted at one time or another.

I thought about starting at fountain and silver creek confluence, never fished there, but today we ended up starting below hwy 50 bridge and going upstream to the bluff back near 50 by the shooting range. The first half was chock full of baitfish with very few bass and then when the rock walls showed up it seemed to get better. I brought home a nice smallmouth. We later went to a pond and caught some bass on top water frogs around sunset. Not a bad day. Fountain creek didn't produce like I had hoped though.

I aint waded creeks in to long, been eye ball'n one close to home for a while now, might just try it out this weekend, all the lakes are gonna be over the bank with all the holiday fisherman anyway.

Yes sir ... I use to kill em in Leipers.... That's where I cut my teeth on creek fishing! I use to ride my little honda 80 from hole to hole burning them up but like you said creek is shallower every year...
