Last year I got a black Friday deal on a Rem 700 in 270 win. It's been sitting in my safe since it came home and now I'm just about ready to get it setup for next season.

I already have a Zeiss Conquest 4-14x44mm sitting on top of my Tikka T3 in 7mm-08. Its hand down the best glass I've been blessed to look thru. But for the 270, I'm looking for something a little less intense. I want the new setup to serve as a backup or loaner deer rifle... so I want the glass to be something mid-range(~$500-600) in 9 or 10x. Any recoomendations?

You are saying you want a backup / loaner setup, but for your $500 - $600 budget you can get a better scope than the Conquest you already have.....especially if you only want 9x or 10x on the top end.

For $500 - $600 you can get into a really nice 3-15x42 or 3-15x50.

Pick up a used vx-3l which can be had for about 550 on ebay, armslist, or gunbroker. They hug the barrel and make for a great cheek weld and compact hunting rifle.
