Did the burgers late one night and woke up and went to gus's for lunch the next day. I did like the chicken at gus's, but did not care for the pie.

My fiance came up with this one:

Memphis trifecta: If you can do this in one day you should get a title belt: Gus's fried chicken, Soul burgers (Ernestine & Hazel's), and Central BBQ. Notice I said soul burgerS.

Now that there is a downtown location of Central, you could actually do all of this on foot or use the trolley. Bonus points for eating sweet potato pancakes at The Arcade, especially if you can score Elvis' booth by the emergency door.

I've eaten at the downtown Central three times this month. I think the ribs there have been better than the original. All else is still the same top-notch stuff that make Central my favorite.

And I'd rather eat Uncle Lou's chicken ANY DAY over a Gus's franchise in Memphis.

I see Uncle Lou every Wednesday night. My 8 yr old loves his honey butter biscuits so he tries to fix him up with some extras whenever we go in and eat. I'll show him your reply to this thread tonight. Lol

Show away! I've told him to his face numerous times that his chicken is good enough to make you want to slap anyone named Gus.

He laughed and said "Thank You!", and told me to tell you to introduce yourself next time you come in and mention my name so that he will put 2 and 2 together. We should just head over there one day for lunch or something, and I'll give him a heads up on when we will be there.

I still owe you some camo fabric that's been in my truck for 2 weeks....

Uncle Lou's Sweet Spicy Love!

I have one of their plastic cups in my cupboard. Their stuff is really good. As far as fried chicken goes, I give the nod to Gus's, but they have a lot of other menu items that make it very competitive.

I took an out-of-towner to Earnestine & Hazel's once when we were working night shift together for about 12 days straight back in the early spring. There was almost no one open, and it had been recommended that we try that place out. It was week night and completely dead inside - maybe 2 other people in the joint.

He asked for a menu, and she laughed and said "there is no menu - you want a burger or not?" They tasted great, but my only complaint was that they were a tad small. I'd definitely go back, though.

Sounds like a good reason to meet at Uncle Lou's for sure then. :D
