So I am up here in New York at class and the local people are talking about this great place for BBQ here. I knew deep down it probably would not come close to BBQ from home but I bit the bullet and went and tried this place just for you guys. It is the only BBQ place with in 50+ miles I am sure so I guess most of these people don't know what real BBQ is.

Here is the view of the building and I thought from the start this can't be good.

Here is what they bring you on the house for you to eat while you wait on the food. A dry cold pice of cornbread.

I ordered the local smoked sausage and rib plate with slaw and baked beans and after I did I wished I had just ordered the pulled pork sandwich. When the food came it was probably the fanciest plate of BBQ I have ever seen. It said the sausage was local made and it was great.

The Ribs were either cooked over gas or in the oven and warmed up on a grill because they had no smoke ring or smoke flavor and really needed 30 min or more cooking because the did not come off the bone at all and it took a knife to get them apart. The BBQ sauce had a strong mustard taste and kind of over powered the meat if you used to much.

The slaw was good but not a southern style slaw. Up here I have had slaw with almost every thing I have ordered in most of the restaurants for some reason it come with just about everything. It all for the most part taste the same, it has a mayonnaise and horse radish in it every time and some black paperer.

The baked beans taste home made but had too much onion and that was about all you tasted other then there was a bean taste.

Over all I guess everything but the ribs was better then I expected but it was no were near Memphis BBQ.

Slaw looks pitiful. I looked at the pic before reading your review of the meat and I though, "That meat looks tough."

NY... get you Italian food... and some Matzo Ball soup and bagel. Those are things you won't find in West TN.

I just had to try it after all the talk about BBQ on here the last few weeks. Also all the local people keep talking about this place to me so I had to go see for my self.

I have had some great pizza, bagels, corned beef here so far. I plan to find a real Italian place to get some real pasta tomorrow.

I though it was a McRib pressed rib-shaped processed meat product :D

Obviously you've got your computer there.....so show 'em some of our slumlord BBQ shacks and let those Yankees know what REAL Memphis BBQ looks like.

oh, and turn up the Southern Drawl to 11.

"YAWWL wuuuddnt know wut REEEEL BARbuhCUE wuz if it wuz a slappin you in tha hind end!"

I'm thinking a Paula Deen sound-alike might be the goal. Yeah, we all know she's faking it, but they'll never know.

Reminds me of that restaurant I stopped at in London because it was called "Tennessee Fried Chicken."

It was not.

When you've never had the real thing, you'll latch on to the closest thing you can find whether it's authentic or not.
