Went Sunday morning for about 2 hours before my Sons basketball game and had a ball! It was 22 degrees on the truck when I backed the boat in at 8 am, and by 10 am I had caught 9 Smallmouth and 4 largemouth! Largest was about a 4 lb Smallie with several more in the 2 3/4 to 3 1/2 range. They were in about 2 feet of water to boot!!! :cool: I love the days when the bait is completely inside their mouth they are eating so well!!!
 
you need to fish a tournament on melton hill. All the guys at work that fish club tournaments always skip that lake due to no fish. Id say you would have a good chance if you catch that in one of them
 
Melton Hill is a tough nut to crack. You go one day and slay fish, next day you get blanked. Its all about the current.

Melton Hill used to be one of my favorites before they killed all the milfoil, I could catch fish all day long in that stuff. Since then Ive only been a few times with my best being about 7.5 largemouth.

Amen, Ive lived 2 miles from Melton Hill all my life and have been fishing it for about 30 years now. When the Milfoil was at its peak the fishing was phenomenal for a small river lake! Its still not nearly as bad as many think, just takes learning how the fish relate to the "current" conditions, as its small enough that the water movement can be huge at times!

I fished them for years on the Hill and did pretty well. Now that my boys are big enough and interested we may just fish a few on the Hill this year!
 
When I was doing fish surveys on Melton hill we would shock up some real good small mouth in one particular spot everyone overlooks. I could tell you where it is, but what fun would that be?

It would be great fun!!! :D Im not surprised to hear they were in an overlooked place however, seems to happen more than we care to admit!
