Hi guys,
I've started a new job here at Oak Ridge and have been crossing the bridge over Melton Hill lock on 95 going home every day. The tailwaters looks like a good place to fish but it's been too dang cold so far. What do you guys normally catch there and are the fish safe to eat? That close to the labs makes me a little nervous.... do they glow in the dark????

I've caught sauger, large mouth bass, smallmouth bass, stripers, and drum. Some people catch crappie too. I wouldn't eat anything out of those waters.

Consumption is limited, just like every other lake anywhere near oak ridge! lol stripe fishing can be good there below the dam.

captainhook-

Hickory Shad are not found in Tennessee. If you caught one, it would be the first on record. They are found on the east coast.

I'm sure you meant skipjack. :)
