In my buscuit recipe I use self rise White Lilly, but saw a recipe adding baking powder, so had to try. Home Run!!

2C flour White Lilly self rise
1C Kroger whole Buttermilk (green top)
1/2 tsp kosher salt
1 tsp baking powder.
2 - 3 Tbs leaf lard in these, but can sub 7/8 stick salted butter or Crisco shortning.

You want pretty wet dough, sticky to your hands, very key. Adjust if to dry by adding Tbs buttermilk little goes a long way. Batter should just pull all flour in while mixing

You only fold 3 times, no more, this dries up batter some so not as wet before cutting. 2 1/2" buscuit cutter 3/4" thick.

I use large heaping Tbs AP flour sifted onto the pillow case to fold dough. AP not bitter as self rise.

12 minutes 500° oven middle rack.

Good woman to butter them right out of the stove! She cuts first buttered one in half for our sample!!
