according to my programs the 250 gr bullet is actually better at 1,000 than the 300 gr bullet,,but the 300 takes over from there on in the wind,,
heck the 225 Sierra SBT looks like a good cheaper bullet to shoot inside a thousand,,I know the 300 is where it is at in excess of 1,000 but just for playing around from 500-1,000 have you tried the lighter bullets??

can you tell any difference in the real world

I bought a box of 250gr nosler accubonds just to shoot through mine just kind of messing around and it has become my go to for here around the house(inside 500 or so). The gun really likes the 250 so I stuck with it and thats mainly all I am loading now.

you might just want to look into the new 265g Barnes TTSX bullets. My cousin is getting really good results (accuracy, precision, and velocity) using them this past month with his EDGE. Apparently real world BC's (not published BC's) are pushing .7

Kirby Allen has done extensive testing of this bullet and is now sold on them from what I hear.

It'll probably be the best 'compromise' bullet with excellent applicability in closer ranges, yet really perform well in the 700-1200 yd ranges also.

He hasn't shot any deer with them yet, but it can't be any worse than the 300 SMK's on deer (at EDGE velocities, performance was unpredictable with the 300SMK's... they'll pencil through if you don't hit bone, but absolutely explode if you do)

On paper, the 250 AB's do look pretty good, but he couldn't get the groups at distance that he was looking for in his gun.

He's on his 3rd bushnell elite scope on that rig (at no cost to him)... The internals start shaking loose with that recoil after a couple hundred rounds :)
