Fished today caught 0 bows, 3 brooks, bunch of illegal browns and I ran into gill..., or he ran into me :D , thanks gill wasnt expecting that! But at the end o the day had a 30+ pounder wiper hit the lure with its dorsal fin perked up and lookin pissed, hit it once but missed....came back the second time the sucker inhaled the lure and gone.
The wiper took or broke everthing, lure, line, broke reel and engraved a ditch on my pole guides.....called wiper for a reason!

Its just a name for its charactoristical behavior when its caught...Wipe out everything you have :D . but 30lb er is a young adult.

yeah, if the 30-pounder was of the same variety as the fish in the pic, then you tied into a true rockfish/striper.

This is why I'm not man enough to fish for big stripers. They are some sturdy studs, aren't they? I have broken an 8-weight on one and cut the line on another.
