I'm looking for a gunsmith (preferably in middle TN) that knows what he's doing with a Mauser. I have an FN Mauser (JC Higgins Model 50) that I'd like re-barreled to 6.5x55, scope base holes opened up to 8-40 and possibly some stock work. Any recommendations?

Thanks JCalder. I appreciate it. About the only thing I feel comfortable swapping barrels on is a Savage. Not sure I would want to finish hand-reaming a short-chambered barrel. It may be easy; I just done have the experience.

slow and tedious. Keep the kids away lol. I made a barrel vice and bought the wrench. Was a great learning experience for sure.
