Hey Tua has a thread. Our guy deserves one too.

He practiced today but did not participate in all drills according to radio report as i was driving to Knoxville. Looks like it may be a game time decision.

I give us 50-50 shot if he plays. Less than 10% chance if he doesn't.

I think he is out honestly. What I don't like is the fact that Pruitt will trot JG back out there. I don't care how terrible JTS looks/looked, LET HIM PLAY

I was over JG two years ago.

Edit: JTS took all the first team reps today in practice. Really hope he starts if BM is a no go

Practicing could mean standing next to the huddle and hearing plays being called. Never know with these coaches nowadays because they like to keep things under wraps.

Have to agree that if he has been diagnosed with two concussions in 2 weeks. I don't know how UT could roll him out there.

Of course Tua is a Heisman candidate... What's your guys name again... :rotf:

You know people are afraid of what TN is becoming when you have gator fans throwing up bama players to try and make a point. Maurer, remember that name it will haunt you after next year! :tu: Has 2 concussions and still wants to play, tua rolled an ankle and has to sit 2 weeks? Sounds like they didn't want tua responsible for that loss they shoulda had.

He was throwing yesterday, in pads :moon: :D !

A) No one has confirmed that he has had two concussions, even though that is what it appears. Plus, there are degrees of concussions.

B) It isn't Pruitt's decision. If the medical staff clears him, he'll play.

And I agree Mick, the team definitely has a better vibe when he is in the game, and that is my biggest beef with Pruitt. He should have tried him a lot earlier in the season, like, say the second qtr of the Ga St game.

A is a good point. I don't think he had a concussion 2 weeks ago. Neck problem, yes, concussion no.

He did not hit his head hard. Last week I think he did

They said this morning he was throwing/running in pads.

I understand JG may be a better option then the 3ed string guy, but man if he goes out there and sucks.. people gonna be mad

I think JG knows people are tired of him and it's messing with him. I thought he was terrible the very first time he took a snap.

with JTS getting first team reps this week, I can't imagine JG being a better option on game day. Can it really get worse than that?

I saw a article yesterday that said the QB situation at vols is still up in the air for SC. Muschamp is 7-0 against the vols. Should be interesting.

I'm sure its messing with him, but if he gets the start this Saturday & plays horrible in a loss.... after that bama fumble its gonna get 10x worse for him .

I

Loser of Florida and TN next year has a team logo put up in their living room and picture posted here. Then me and rem270 also have a bet that TN will beat bama in the next 2 years and same stipulations.

Tennessee QB, Brian Maurer taking reps at practice #Vols @Vol_Football
<video>
1:30 PM - 22 Oct 2019

Looks like a rep to me.

On the radio yesterday, Hyams was practically begging people not to boo JG if he trots onto the field as the starter Saturday. I wouldn't boo, but there will sure be some groans if that happens.

I read today where Pruitt said Maurer was "doubtful" to play Saturday...

If JG runs out on the field as starting quarterback Saturday, I imagine the stadium will get loud.... with fans Booing him.

I'm certainly not hopeful of a win with JG at QB for the Vols on Saturday. But, with that being said, anybody that boos a HS or college player (with the exception of an obvious dirty play during a game) is a POS in my book. The kids are doing their best out there even when they suck it up.

I totally agree about booing any player. When you compare their stats there's a big difference. I would still pump the brakes. New qbs are like new girlfriends/boyfriends. Everybody loves them in the beginning. It was the same way when JG took over at QB.

I saw some kind of social media pic floating around that Maurer posted that was a pic of Vanderbilt Medical Center and was captioned "God is with me". Seems that concussions could be handled in Knoxville, which leads me to believe he is seeing some kind of spinal expert for further diag or maybe second opinion.

Whatever it might be, id say hes not playing Saturday. If JG plays, I hope they feed Jordan, Chandler and Gray some gunpowder for breakfast and just hand them the ball. Or let JT play and just let him sling it.

Apparently Maurer IS the starting quarterback .

Who knew ???

Tennessee head coach Jeremy Pruitt appeared on the weekly SEC Coaches Teleconference on Wednesday to update the media as the Vols (2-5, 1-3 SEC) prepare to host the South Carolina Gamecocks (3-4, 2-3 SEC) on Saturday.

The game is virtually a 'must-win' as far as Tennessee's postseason aspirations go, but according to Pruitt, they will most likely be without starting quarterback Brian Maurer.

Maurer suffered a concussion in the second quarter in the Vols' 35-13 loss to No. 1 ALABAMA last Saturday.

"We've shuffled a few guys in at quarterback," Pruitt said on the teleconference. "Jarrett (Guarantano) and JT (Shrout) have taken some reps there. Brian (Maurer) has not taken any reps this week so he's probably doubtful."

Hopefully its nothing to do with his spin. Hate seeing any kid hurt. Concussions are bad enough.
