Matthews limb Warranty

Just a word of caution:

Matthews will not honor warranties for send-hand owners of their bows. I purchased a used bow from a "pawn & gun" shop. The bow worked well for a year. This season, the limbs splintered and a big shiver of fiberglass broke loose. I took the bow to an authorized dealer for repair. A few days later, they called to inform me that Matthews would not honor the lifetime limb warranty since I was not the original owner!

I wonder how the other bow manufacturers deal with this situation. This policy sure makes it hard for folks who can't pay a lot of money for new bows.

Only a few manufacturers have a transferable warranty. If you buy used stick with those companies. From my experience Mathews customer service sucks even for the original owner.

Most of the bigger companies are the same way, Elite being the big exception that I know of.

Mathews and Hoyt have non transferable warranties.

Did you get a quote on new limbs? Getting new limbs is cheaper than a new bow. You should be able to buy a pair.

That is the only reason I recommend new bows. I popped a limb on my older Z7 and it was replaced within 3 days.It sucks on the front side, but you are done.

I found Mathews to be johnny on the spot with customer service when you are original owner.

Sorry you had trouble, but you should expect the same treatment and answer from just about any manufacturer. I have to second that praise for Mathews customer service�I've found them to be excellent, as they should for the price you pay for them. Years ago, I had bearings start to go bad in the idler pulley and Mathews sent not only a new pulley, but they also sent new limbs and cam to go along with the pulley and within 4 days I was shooting again.

It's been my experience with Mathews and Hoyt when you are the original purchaser the customer service has been fast and first rate!

Used bows from Mathews and Hoyt as an example: A two year old bow brings 50% of the value and that's a heck of a deal. Limbs run on average at about $100.00 to $200.00, Mathews cam $60.00, Hoyt cams (2) $100.00. All this in my opinion makes a used bow from the better bow companies a steal of a deal!

Thanks for all the advice. As I think about my purchase price... I definitely had a good bow for two seasons. Now I need to repair this bow or look for another good deal... I will also look into Elite bows. I believe they just held a demo shoot in Paris...

Look at the bright side.. if you buy the new limbs for your bow they will have a lifetime warranty.

What bow is it? If it is a Drenalin, I have a set of 70# limbs that I would let go cheap. I changed from he 70# to the 60# limbs.

I dropped my mathews and splinterd a limb and had it back going with new limbs in a week. Great customer service. I dont know of any transferable warrantys on bows.

I guess I got lucky on mine when my FX needed new limbs. No problem on getting new limbs and no cost out the door.
