Hit the farm this weekend to do some maintenance on some stands. Waverly Tn.

Everything looked very Dry. I mean very Dry. Saw lots of Green Acorns and lots of other Mast on the ground. Very unusual for this time of the year.

Is the heat getting to the Mast early this year?

It's expected for trees to shed a certain amount of mast through the summer. I wouldn't attribute it to the heat, as we have been average or a little below for most of the summer. Drought could do it, especially after the drought stress carrying over from last year. I saw swaths of dead/dying timber in Cumberland county recently in areas of shallow soil over rock outcrops.

Mast bearing trees typically shed "excess" mast in a good year. The tree can only support X amount of mast at one time.
If your trees are dropping already [ without help from high wind etc] it means you are in for a good year.
