A friend's high school son is going to fish Marrowbone Lake this weekend. I think he's going to just rent a boat and toss out a bobber.

I know there are a ton of species out there and this is way general of a question, but does anybody have any advice for this time of year? Hot spots on the lake? Tips for different species? What kind of bait?

Thanks so much in advance.

In the coves, preferably farther from the boat dock... I found decent bass all the way up into the creeks, and caught cats on jugs randomly across the lake. I hear there is good catfishing in the coves but was concentrating on grass carp so I didn't fish for cats up in the coves really. Stumps and submerged trees and logs seem to hold bluegills and I saw most bream up in the shallows. Night crawlers, or crickets as RF270 said, are hard to beat....
