I bought a marlin xs7 bolt action in 308 win. It seems to shoot better than the abolt i had. The gun was 350 out the door real nice for the price. does anyone have one of the x guns if so what kinda groups you getting out of them and have you free floated the barrel or glass bedded it?

I just bought an xs7 at Benton shooters supply for 285.00, I bought the 7mm-08 because I have a ton of 7mm bullets, haven't got to shoot it yet, didn't really need it, but just couldn't pass it up, too many features at this price.

Targeted in new X7s in 243 shooting 100 gr bullets. Remington factory ammo averaged 2" to 2 1/4 at 100 yds. Hornady 100 sp with IMR 4350 powder averaged the same as factory Remingtons. Hornady sp using IMR 4064 powder ran a inch to 1 1/4". I did not load top end pressure to start testing the gun. I am comfident better accuracy is available (1" at 100 yds is better than I will do deer hunting). I no longer have the ability for great accuracy
If you reload, check the bullet seating. My rifle showed bullet seating with the Hornady 100 gr Soft Point max is 2.720. That is a longer jump to rifling for the factory ammo. Gun handled great with no problems. I prefer the feel of the Marlin trigger over the Savages.

Shot a .6" 5-shot group today with the 22-250 X7VH (which will be released soon)with factory ammo. Those results may not be typical of the rifle, but I was impressed to get that without any kind of break-in.

That's correct. Most x7's have a pressure pad in the stock.
