marlin 336c project

i just picked up a marlin 336c in 35 remington. its a 1995 model with a cross bolt safty and the checking on the wood. i would like to refinish the wood,reblue the steel and add a wild west guns large loop , has any one else ever done any of this to their 336 . if so i would like to hear about the results
